With many people struggling to keep up with rising costs of living and finding themselves in need of a helping hand, people in the Wangaratta community are encouraged to get involved, dig deep and donate to the 2018 Emergency Relief Winter Appeal.
The Appeal involves the Anglican Diocese of Wangaratta and Anglicare Victoria working together to support Emergency Relief programs and the members of our communities who access these services.
Anglicare Victoria Community Development worker Tanya Grant encouraged the public to get involved.
“This is an appeal that will benefit those most vulnerable within our community, so we encourage the local community to help out where possible.
“The strength of partnership between parishes and schools right across the Diocese of Wangaratta is vital to raising funds and awareness of the needs within the community, particularly during the Winter months,” she said.
Members of the community can help out in a few ways:
- Parishes will have Sunday soup after mass for a gold coin donation. Donation baskets will also be available for non-perishable food and blankets.
- Support the Anglican schools of Trinity Anglican School, Thurgoona; Cathedral College, Wangaratta and Cobram Anglican Grammar, Cobram.
- Make donations of non-perishable food, blankets or money to the Parishes or Anglicare Victoria’s Wangaratta office.
